Takata Archives & Exploration of Phyllis Furumoto’s Legacy
Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, 2022.

Joyce Winough was one of the logistical persons involved in the sorting and scanning all Hawayo Takata’s archives in preparation for them being donated in 2017 to the University of Santa Barbara in California.
Her historically rich presentation includes over one hundred slides and the stories attached to the pictures. It is through Hawayo Takata’s lifelong dedication to teaching that Reiki is now recognized, offered and taught throughout the world.
Joyce combines the Takata Archives with a second session of sharings about Takata’s granddaughter and successor, Phyllis Furumoto. Joyce perceives this to be an opportunity for students of all Reiki practices to understand and comprehend the connection between Furumoto and Takata’s work. Phyllis’ life work clarified what her Grandmother translated from Hayashi teachings.
Joyce acts as a Resourse to an interactive approach that holds the History and Elements of Usui Shiki Ryoho, encourages students to explore, go deeper in their own practice and have their own experiences and nurture their relationship with the System.
Recently recognized as member of The Office of the Grandmaster, Joyce holds not just the materials of the Takata and Furumoto archives but also the energy of connection to this unique and storied family.
Second Degree Immersion
Sunday, May 22, 2022
Practice, Practice, Practice,
This day will be devoted to doing hands on Reiki using the Second Degree symbols. We will explore self treatment, treatment of others and distant treatment in ways that you may not have yet explored. Bring your notebook or journal as we will be writing of our experiences.
Each student will use the symbols he or she were given. This is not a time of learning or reviewing the symbols themselves.
Let us be together, in person, and explore the possibilities and mystery of the Reiki symbols.
